L’Automne est bien là. Elle est arrivée décidemment
dans les rues de la vieille London, marquant son territoire de ses
magnifiques feuilles orangées. La vision est magique : ces énormes feuilles
reposant le long des pas de portes des maisons victoriennes. L’Ambiance est à
la poésie…
C’est dans ce contexte
automnal que je viens vous faire découvrir une performance artistique réalisée
par un ami proche qui me touche particulièrement.
Un beau matin, les étudiants
de UCL se sont retrouvés dans une bibliothèque recouverte d’un tapis de
feuilles d’Automne.
Fermez les yeux, le bruit des feuilles remuant sous nos
pas ... shhh… shhhh… et nous nous transportons au milieu d’une forêt en automne.
Chaque feuille a été découpée
au laser à partir des journaux gratuits qui sont distribués à l’entrée du métro. D’où le titre de
l’œuvre : Information Devient Seconde Nature.
Il y aurait énormément de
choses à dire sur cette œuvre, tellement de liens à faire, de réflexions à
avoir : poétique, philosophique, économique, environnementale….
Et c’est justement cela qui rend cette œuvre si
unique, surprenante et émouvante.

* Autumn is really here. She arrived promptly in the streets of old London
town, marking her territory with her beautiful orange leaves. The vision is magical: these enormous leaves
laying outside the doorways of the English Victorian terraces. The mood is
poetic…
It is in this autumnal setting that I want to
share with you an artistic performance realised by a close friend which touches
me particularly.
One fine morning, the students at UCL Library
found themselves in a reading room covered by a blanket of autumn leaves. Close
your eyes. The noise of the leaves rustling under our feet, shhh…shhh… and we
are transported into the middle of a forest in autumn.
Each leaf was laser cut from the free
newspaper given out at the tube station. Which explains the title: Information
Become Second Nature.
There are so many things one can say about
this artwork, so many links to make, thoughts to have: poetic, philosophical,
economical, environmental…
And this is exactly why it makes this
artwork so unique, surprising and touching…
