Ombres et Lumières

Hello Tout le monde!

Je sais je sais ça fait un bail!

Je ferme a  peine les yeux et  nous sommes déjà en 2014 et mon dernier post date …. oups…  d'il y a plus d'un an!!!

Bon et bien, comme mon post arrive , encore une fois, en plein dans la "si commerciale" Saint Valentin, j'aimerais vous faire partager ce duo d'artistes anglais, Tim Noble & Sue Webster que j'affectionne particulièrement. Le concept est de créer des installations à partir de divers objets de recup', le tout qui au contact de la lumière, projettera une ombre sur le mur. 

Apparait alors le subtile contraste entre l'installation même ( en tout et pour tout, ramassis de recup' sans aucun sens en particulier) et sa projection prenant des formes humaines au millimètre près.

  

Le résultat est vraiment sympa et plutôt impressionant a voir en vrai! Un "must –see" si vous pouvez!

I know it has been a while!!!

I close my eyes during 5 minutes, re-open them and we are already in 2014 and my last post... well... was 1 year ago exactly!

So as my post is again exactly at the same time as the "so commercial" Valentine's day celebration, I would like to share with you this duo of artists that I particularly like: Tim Noble and Sue Webster. They basically create installations from literally rubbish and recycling's bits and bobs, and altogether when touched by light, will project a shadow on the wall.

What then appears to us is the subtle contrast between the installations itself, which is, to go straight to the point a big bunch of rubbish without any kind of significance, and its projection, representing human forms in action with an extreme precision.

The result looks very cool and impressive and i strongly recommend if you can see it for real!

Happy Valentine's Day! : The Museum of Broken Relationships

C’était trop tentant: petit pied de nez a la si commerciale Saint-Valentin avec ce post dédié au plus atypique des musées vu jusque-la: The Museum of Broken Relationships ou le Musée des Relations Rompues.

Le principe est simple: Un objet qui définit et signe la fin d’une relation amoureuse de manière plus ou moins intentionnelle, plus ou moins violente.

On rit,  on s’emeut, on s’etonne ..devant toutes ces petites histoires qui même terminées deviennent finalement  immortelles.

Je n’en dirais pas plus et vous encourage a visiter ce musée (qui a recu le prix Kenneth Hudson Award du plus innovant musée d’Europe) lors de votre prochain voyage a Zagreb.

I couldn’t resist: here it is a little nod to the so commercial Valentine’s day with this post dedicated to the most quirky museum I ever seen: The Museum of Broken Relationships. The concept is simple: An object which defines and marks the end of a love relationship, more or less wanted, more or less violent. We laugh, we get surprised, we want to cry… in front of all these little stories which even though finished, become finally immortal.

I will not say much but highly recommend you  to visit this museum (which received the prize Kenneth Hudson Award of the most innovative museum of Europe)  during your next holiday in Zagreb.

Lecture d'Automne

L’Automne est bien là. Elle est arrivée  décidemment  dans les rues de la vieille London, marquant son territoire de ses magnifiques feuilles orangées. La vision est magique : ces énormes feuilles reposant le long des pas de portes des maisons victoriennes. L’Ambiance est à la poésie…

C’est dans ce contexte automnal que je viens vous faire découvrir une performance artistique réalisée par un ami proche qui me touche particulièrement.

Un beau matin, les étudiants de UCL se sont retrouvés dans une bibliothèque recouverte d’un tapis de feuilles d’Automne.

Fermez les yeux, le bruit des feuilles remuant sous nos pas ... shhh… shhhh… et nous nous transportons au milieu d’une forêt  en automne.

Chaque feuille a été découpée au laser à partir des journaux gratuits qui sont distribués  à l’entrée du métro. D’où le titre de l’œuvre : Information Devient Seconde Nature.

Il y aurait énormément de choses à dire sur cette œuvre, tellement de liens à faire, de réflexions à avoir : poétique, philosophique, économique, environnementale….

 Et c’est justement cela qui rend cette œuvre si unique, surprenante et émouvante.

* Autumn is really here.  She arrived promptly in the streets of old London town, marking her territory with her beautiful orange leaves.  The vision is magical: these enormous leaves laying outside the doorways of the English Victorian terraces. The mood is poetic…

It is in this autumnal setting that I want to share with you an artistic performance realised by a close friend which touches me particularly.

One fine morning, the students at UCL Library found themselves in a reading room covered by a blanket of autumn leaves. Close your eyes. The noise of the leaves rustling under our feet, shhh…shhh… and we are transported into the middle of a forest in autumn.

Each leaf was laser cut from the free newspaper given out at the tube station. Which explains the title: Information Become Second Nature.

There are so many things one can say about this artwork, so many links to make, thoughts to have: poetic, philosophical, economical, environmental…

And this is exactly why it makes this artwork so unique, surprising and touching…

Après un an et demi passé à Londres, la passion pour cette ville magique n’a pas dépéri.

Ainsi  vient mon petit clin d’œil aux JO d’été qui débutent  officiellement ce weekend- end. Car même si on se plaint un peu (beaucoup) des conséquences que vont avoir les jeux sur notre petite vie peinarde de « londoners » pantouflards, c’est  quand même un honneur d’être dans la ville qui accueille un tel évènement.

J’ai eu le privilège d’aller sur le Parc Olympique pour l’inauguration officiel du stade et c’est donc là que ces photos ont été prises.

*After one year and a half spent in London, the passion for this magical city never ceases.

Therefore, this  is my little nod to the Olympic Games which officially starts this week end.  Because even if we are complaining a little (a lot!) about the consequences that the games will have on our comfortable little lives as lazy Londoners, it still is a really big honour to be in the city which hosts such an event.

I had the privilege to go the Olympic Park for the official opening of the stadium which is where the pictures were taken.

J’ai toujours aimé le concept du secret, de quelque chose de caché et seulement repérable par quelques initiés (Me donnant ainsi l’impression d’être plus cool que jamais!). J’ai donc entendu parler de ce fameux « tea-room » dans le guide du Time Out London: «2012 things to do in London »que je recommande fortement.

Le Tea- Room est situé au 29 Greek street dans Soho. Arrivées sur place, aucune trace du Tea -Room jusqu’à ce que nous apparaissent comme par magie sur la devanture du pub Coach and Horses une pancarte : « Soho’s Secret Tea -Room ». Nous entrons dans le pub, la vision (et senteur !) est plus qu’explicite : TOUS A LA BIERRE tandis que tous les regards de la clientèle nous dévisagent ... Je commence à perdre patience en me disant que j’ai dû me tromper d’endroit quand le patron du bar nous ayant repérées (ça devait tellement se voir…) nous lance sans détour : le Tea –Room se trouve en haut, passez derrière le bar et montez les escaliers.

Amateur d’ambiance vintage et 100% British cet endroit est pour vous ! Avec vaisselles à fleur, pâtisseries typiques anglaises en y ajoutant une petite touche kitsch que j’adore ! Je vous laisse découvrir les photos !

 NB : C’est plutôt tendance et petit comme endroit, donc si vous êtes plus de 3 c’est préférable de réserver à l’avance.



I have always loved the concept of SECRET, of something hidden and only known only by a few “connoisseurs”, it makes me feel cooler than I ever been!
I heard about this particular “tea- room” in the special guide “2012 things to do in London” by Time Out. By the way, I recommend this book very strongly.

The Tea- room is located in 29 Greek street in Soho. When we arrived at the supposed place nothing indicated there was a tea- room until we saw a postcard: “Soho’s Secret Tea -Room” on top of the entrance of the pub Coach and Horses. We went inside the pub, but all the people inside were drinking beer and looking at us. I started thinking that I definitely made a mistake on the address when the bar tender said: “the tea- room is upstairs, pass behind the bar and climb the stairs”.

Vintage atmosphere and 100% British lovers, this place is dedicated to you! Flower crockery, amazing British pastries, all of that with a touch of Kitsch, I just LOVE IT! Have a look at the pictures!

Please note: It’s quite busy and small , so for more than 3 people, it’s better to book in advance.
